Today is always a day about family and thinking about the year past and the year ahead. During our family Christmas service, my aunt shared the following from Obama's Christmas Message
Now more than ever, we must rededicate ourselves to the notion that we share a common destiny as Americans – that I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper. Now, we must all do our part to serve one another; to seek new ideas and new innovation; and to start a new chapter for our great country.

My uncle shared a piece of FDR's Inaugural Address given nearly 75 years ago. The historical connections were clear and gave us all a sense of comfort. We have weathered these storms before and together we can do it again. (We have nothing to fear but fear itself.)
Obama has a strong spiritual sensibility. The words he chooses give comfort during these difficult times. Comfort will not solve our economic woes but it is the basis for hope, for the belief that we can and will move ahead. That it will be alright.
Such words were a wonderful extra gift on this glorious Christmas Day.
