Faith of Our Fathers

This story has left a lump in my throat.

It seems that Obama has decided to take his oath of office placing his hand on the same Bible that Lincoln used in 1861. It has not been used since. The deep lines of connection between the President who stood up for blacks in this country with no voice...to the first African American President of the United States.

Say that a few times...it takes a while for it to sink in.

And what is more...Obama rallied so brilliantly against the "he is not one of us" meme. He is himself, he is a child of God not the evil other. (whatever that means).

During this season when we hear angels singing "Be Not Afraid", I am reminded how proud I am that as a nation, we were not. We are not.
