We attended a new church yesterday and this new experience welcomed me with a favorite hymn. As we struggle to find a new faith community that feels just right, I don't take these kinds of signs lightly. To walk in and feel welcomed, to have the children happily cared for and nurtured, to be able to sit next to hubby and actually worship, relax and rejoice. What a joy.
I received a phone call first thing this morning from a welcoming soul thanking us for joining them in worship, yesterday and asking if we had any questions. Mostly, she was interested that our children felt safe and at home too. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Lately, I have tried to become more comfortable with not knowing the next step. Opening myself up to the movement in life and seeing where it leads. We make dozens of decisions every day, some good and some not so good -- but each leading us to where we are supposed to be. The key is to remember to be open to hearing when the right idea, the one that is best makes itself heard.
All beautiful the march of days, as seasons come and go;
The Hand that shaped the rose hath wrought the crystal of the snow;
Hath sent the hoary frost of Heav’n, the flowing waters sealed,
And laid a silent loveliness on hill and wood and field.O’er white expanses sparkling pure the radiant morns unfold;
The solemn splendors of the night burn brighter than the cold;
Life mounts in every throbbing vein, love deepens round the hearth,
And clearer sounds the angel hymn, “Good will to men on earth.”O Thou from Whose unfathomed law the year in beauty flows,
Thyself the vision passing by in crystal and in rose,
Day unto day doth utter speech, and night to night proclaim,
In ever changing words of light, the wonder of Thy Name.Amen.
